MIAMI, FL - Today, Representatives Carlos A. Giménez (FL-28), Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26), and María Elvira Salazar (FL-27), released the following joint statement regarding Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Venezuelan nationals:
The lawmakers said: "The regime of Nicolás Maduro is one of the world’s most repressive dictatorships, and its mounting failures have led to one of the largest migration crises in history, with millions of Venezuelans being forced to flee the brutal and oppressive regime.
"As a result, many Venezuelans have arrived in our country and have integrated into our communities, respecting our laws and contributing to the prosperity of our great country.
"Unfortunately, we have seen how some individuals, such as members of the Tren de Aragua, have exploited our generosity and flouted our laws, with connections to both the Maduro regime and organized crime. Just today, President Trump signed the “Laken Riley Act,” which provides federal authorities with the necessary tools to enforce the law and prevent these avoidable horrific crimes, such as the tragic case of Laken Riley, who was murdered by a member of the Tren de Aragua.
"In 2021, in one of his final decisions in office, President Trump granted Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) to Venezuelan nationals in the United States, ensuring that those seeking safety in our country.
"President Trump has shown steadfast and unwavering solidarity with the Venezuelan people, including by protecting those fleeing oppression, supporting the courageous democratic opposition, and imposing tough sanctions on the Maduro dictatorship. We will continue to work with the administration toward a foreign policy that protects U.S. national security interests, keeps Americans safe, and defends human rights and democracy while standing up to the dictators in our hemisphere.
"The Venezuelan people have endured repression, corruption, and human rights abuses for far too long in Venezuela, and it is still not safe for many to return. We will continue to do everything possible to ensure that those seeking freedom from persecution and oppression are protected."

Como resultado, muchos venezolanos han llegado a nuestro país y se han integrado a nuestras comunidades, respetando nuestras leyes y contribuyendo a la prosperidad de nuestro gran país.
Lamentablemente, hemos visto cómo algunos individuos, como miembros del Tren de Aragua, han explotado nuestra generosidad y violado nuestras leyes, con vínculos tanto con el régimen de Maduro como con el crimen organizado.
