WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Carlos A. Giménez was appointed by Speaker Kevin McCarthy to the United States - Mexico Interparliamentary Group for the 118th Congress. The United States and Mexico share a special relationship and work together to address key issues of immigration, security, and trade. The U.S. - Mexico Interparliamentary Group brings Members of Congress from both countries together to work on these issues and continue to build the foundation of this special relationship. Congressman Giménez looks forward to this important work with U.S. colleagues and his Mexican counterparts. 

“I am more than honored to have been selected by Speaker Kevin McCarthy to serve on the U.S.-Mexico Interparliamentary Group,” said Rep. Carlos Giménez. “As the Representative of nearly 30,000 Mexican Americans in South Florida, I look forward to working with my colleagues to enhance our nation’s economic ties to Mexico, strengthen security cooperation, and address the migrant crisis.”

Congressman Carlos A. Giménez serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security, the Select Committee on China, and the Armed Services Committee. He is the only Cuban-born Member of the 118th Congress, having been forced from his homeland shortly after the Communist takeover of the island. Rep. Giménez represents Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys.
