WASHINGTON D.C. -Today, Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez (FL-28) issued the following statement after President Biden delivered the annual State of the Union Address:

“The America President Biden described tonight is very different from the reality everyday Americans are living,” said Rep. Gimenez. “Under his Administration, the last three years have been an unmitigated disaster. His reckless policies created runaway inflation, rising energy costs, soaring debt, and a crippling, nationwide, crime epidemic. For too long, everyday Americans have been feeling the consequences of President Biden’s failed leadership.

“His countless failures have emboldened our foreign adversaries, created the unprecedented crisis in our southern border, and made our country less safe. He has overseen an invasion at our southern border, which has poisoned our communities with deadly fentanyl and boosted the profits of transnational cartels to record levels. President Biden has transformed every state - no matter how far - into a border state.

“His embrace of destructive socialist policies threatens the freedoms generations of brave Americans have fought to preserve. Such policies undermine the principle of individual liberty and entrepreneurship that are a foundation of our nation’s prosperity and success. As the only Cuban-born Member of Congress, who was forced to flee my home after the Communist takeover, I know first hand the evils of socialism and the need to prevent its malign influence from spreading. This is why I was proud to host Cuban opposition leader Rosa María Payá as my honored guest for the State of the Union. Together, we will continue to denounce the brutality of socialism and fight to prevent our great country from falling to that evil ideology.”
