Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez issued the following statement expressing his deep appreciation to the Republic of Peru for its leadership in standing for democracy in Venezuela. The Republic of Peru is a democratic leader in the region and a strong ally of the United States of America.  

"As Co-Chair of the Congressional Peru Caucus, I applaud the Republic of Peru's leadership as the first country to recognize Edmundo Gonzalez as the new President-Elect of Venezuela," said Rep. Gimenez. "I encourage other regional allies to follow Peru's leadership and recognize Edmundo Gonzalez as Venezuela's new President-Elect. As South Florida's voice in Congress, home to the largest Peruvian-American community and Venezuelan exile community in the United States, I will continue to demand the Biden-Harris Administration do the same."
