WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez introduced three pieces of legislation aimed at strengthening U.S. National Security to combat Communist China.

Rep. Gimenez is introducing the Keep China Out of Solar Energy Act. This bill will prohibit the purchase of solar panels manufactured or assembled in Communist China. Further, with this act, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget will be required to submit a report to the Congress on the current state of solar panel production in the United States. Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) is leading a companion bill in the U.S. Senate.

Rep. Gimenez reintroduced the Decoupling from Foreign Adversarial Battery Dependence Act, which passed with unanimous and bipartisan support in the 118th Congress, with Chairman of Homeland Security Mark Green (R-TN) and Chairman of the Select Committee on the CCP John Moolenaar (R-MI). Representatives Pfluger (R-TX) and Meuser (R-PA) joined as original co-sponsors. Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) is leading a companion bill in the U.S. Senate. Further, Rep.  Gimenez reintroduced the Port Crane Security and Inspection Act, Representative John Garamendi (D-CA) joined as co-lead with Representatives Kiggans (R-VA), Luna (R-FL), Donalds (R-FL), Higgins (R-LA), and Green (R-TN) as original co-sponsors.

Communist China is at America’s 20-yard line, and we must be at the cutting-edge of combatting the CCP across all industries,” said Congressman Carlos Gimenez. “This legislation will wean the U.S. off of our over-reliance on strategic products manufactured in Communist China and reinforce the speed with which we are decoupling from the murderous regime in Beijing. I look forward to continuing working in a bipartisan way to deter Communist China and protect my children and grandchildren from living in a world dominated by the CCP.

Rep. Carlos Gimenez has been a leader in House of Representatives in investigating and pushing back on the influence of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on the free world.  As a member of the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the U.S. and the CCP, Rep. Gimenez has worked with his other committees, House Homeland Security and House Armed Services, in delivering legislative and bipartisan results.
