WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) has formally requested that the Trump Administration end all remittances and travel to and from Communist Cuba with limited case-by-case humanitarian exemptions approved by the State Department.

During President Trump's first administration, the President ended cruise travel to Cuba and imposed sanctions to limit the regime's access to hard currency and resources used to repress the Cuban people. The regime's cynicism and repression know no bounds as they weaponize and ration electricity on the island. They have doubled down on the persecution of brave dissidents and political opponents.

“The murderous dictatorship in Havana poses a significant threat to the safety and wellbeing of the United States and our citizens,” said Congressman Carlos Gimenez“The brutal regime in Cuba is facing more internal pressure than ever before and America must stand with the brave Cuban people by eliminating the dictatorship’s access to any hard currency and resources used to further repress them. The time is now.”
