WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Carlos A. Giménez (FL-28) the following statement in support of former Speaker of the House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy:

“I am supporting Speaker McCarthy and intend on voting for him on the House Floor. I will never support socialist Hakeem Jeffries and anything to the contrary is a fabrication and a flat-out lie.” said Rep. Gimenez. “Last week, eight colleagues joined all the socialist Democrats to carry-out a coup against our duly-elected Republican Speaker Kevin McCarthy. These eight lit the fuse and every Democrat in Congress provided the gunpowder to overthrow the will of 96% of Republicans in Congress who voted to retain Speaker McCarthy. I will not partake in this despicable coup. Speaker McCarthy should have never been removed to begin with.”

Congressman Carlos Giménez represents beautiful Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys. Rep. Gimenez is the only Cuban-born Member of the 118th Congress, having fled his homeland shortly after the Communist takeover of the island. He serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the Homeland Security Committee, and the Select Committee on China.
