WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Carlos Gimenez (FL-28) urged President Biden to take decisive action on the fentanyl crisis ravishing our nation. This comes after Congressman Gimenez spoke at the Homeland Security Hearing this week on Rebecca Kiessling's testimony, a a mother who lost her son to a fentanyl overdose. Previously, Congressman Gimenez questioned FBI Director Hon. Wray on the thousands of Americans who are dying from fentanyl. On Average, nearly 200 Americans are dying a day from fentanyl poisoning.
"I’ve long been raising the alarm about the threat posed by lethal fentanyl. Rebecca Kiessling’s testimony absolutely awakened the nation. What is President Biden waiting for to take decisive action against the drug cartels responsible for the murder of thousands of Americans?" Congressman Gimenez said.
Congressman Gimenez is on the Homeland Security Committee and serves as the Chairman of the Maritime Security Subcommittee. He is the only Cuban-born Member of the 118th Congress and is the former Mayor of Miami-Dade County.
