WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Carlos A. Giménez (FL-28) questioned witnesses in a Homeland Security Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection hearing to address threats posed to operational technology (OT) across sectors, particularly the water sector. The hearing also examined the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) role in securing OT amid increased threats. 

The Homeland Security Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection maintains oversight of CISA and the cybersecurity operations of the Department of Homeland Security. Operational technology is the use of hardware and software to monitor and control physical processes, devices, and infrastructure.

“Operational technology safeguards the critical infrastructure that we rely on everyday, "said Rep. Gimenez. “Amid the recent increase in cyberattacks against the United States by Iran-backed actors and Communist China, it is imperative we ensure our cybersecurity protections are robust and capable of handling evolving threats.”
