WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez (FL-28), a Member of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), issued the following statement after the passage of the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Application Act, which would force TikTok to divest from its CCP-controlled parent company ByteDance to continue operating in the United States:

"Proud to vote for a bipartisan bill that prevents our adversaries from using applications to spy on and steal the data of American citizens," said Rep. Gimenez. "TikTok provides the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) with unfettered access to the data of millions of Americans. As long as TikTok's parent company ByteDance is forced to comply with the CCP, it poses a serious threat to our nation's national and cybersecurity. Either TikTok cuts ties with the CCP, or it will no longer be available in the United States."
