WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez pressed General Gregory M. Guillot, Commander of the U.S. Northern Command and Northern American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), on the fact that transnational Mexican cartels are using Chinese precursor chemicals to manufacture fentanyl that is poisoning American communities.

“Fentanyl overdoses are the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18-45,” said Rep. Gimenez. “This poison is manufactured in Mexico by cartels using precursor chemicals supplied from Communist China, and smuggled into the United States through the open-border. This perverse relationship, coupled with the Administration’s failed border policies, has caused the fentanyl crisis to bleed into every community across the nation. I call on the Administration to use every tool at its disposal to combat fentanyl trafficking and hold the governments of Mexico and Communist China accountable.”
