Dear Friends,

We just successfully passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Alongside approving all military and service member programs through Fiscal year 2025, we were able to secure the approval for a new $70 Million Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATF-South) Headquarters in Key West.

It is critical that we maintain our military commands and have state of the art infrastructure to meet the growing threats our nation faces. This new headquarters will allow us to further U.S. interests in combating drug trafficking, enhancing our national security, and supporting our brave men and women who tirelessly protect our borders.

As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, and the first member from South Florida to be on the committee, I am proud to have supported and passed this bill to ensure that the U.S. military is the strongest and most prepared in the world. With growing threats from Communist Cuba, while President Joe Biden allows the encroachment of Putin’s Russian warships just 90 miles off our coast, this NDAA and new JIATF South Headquarters is vital.

Sincerely,

Your Congressman,
Carlos A. Gimenez

Congressman Carlos Gimenez Condemns Russian Warships in Cuba

Congressman Carlos Gimenez once again condemned Putin's Russia for collaborating with Communist Cuba to deploy warships, capable of utilizing hypersonic missiles, into our hemisphere. Instead of holding the Castro Regime accountable, President Joe Biden has embraced a policy of concessions to the military dictatorship in Havana. The regime has exploited these concessions to further threaten America and our U.S. national security.

“Make no mistake, the murderous military regime in Havana poses a direct national security threat to America,” Rep. Gimenez said. “Our community understands this firsthand being only 90 miles away from the shores of the very same dictatorship that supports Putin’s barbaric, illegal invasion of Ukraine. Instead of granting concession after concession to the Castro regime in Cuba, which is actively inviting Russian warships to our seas, President Biden must impose consequences on Communist Cuba to curb this pathetic, dangerous behavior.”

Congressman Carlos Gimenez Responds to Members of the Cuba’s Communist Dictatorship being Allowed Access to the United States

Congressman Carlos Gimenez joined Representatives Mario Diaz-Balart and Maria Salazar in sending a letter to Secretaries Anthony Blinken and Alejandro Mayorkas to express their concern and outrage that agents of Castro’s judicial kangaroo court were allowed access to our country. Those that violate human rights should not be allowed in or benefit from the privileges that are offered in the United States. As hundreds of political prisoners still remain in prison, we can not allow Castro’s agents to benefit from their blatant misuse of power and authority. Read the letter HERE.

“Those who have blood on their hands, the repressors and agents of the regime should not receive any type of benefit in our nation!” Rep. Gimenez tweeted.
