Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez participated in the House Homeland Security Committee as they examined the failed assassination attempt of President Donald Trump on July 13, 2024, in Butler, Pennsylvania. Rep. Gimenez questioned the Commissioner of Pennsylvania State Police, Colonel Christopher L. Paris, and President of the National Fraternal Order of Police, Patrick Yoes. The now former U.S. Secret Service Director was invited to take questions by the committee, but she did not appear and instead resigned as the director of the agency. While we welcome the Secret Service Director’s resignation, our Homeland Security Committee will continue investigating.

Recently, Congressman Gimenez returned from a site visit to Butler, PA, and stood on the roof where failed assassin Thomas Crooks fired at President Trump.

The House Homeland Security Committee will continue its work and thoroughly investigate the events leading up to the failed assassination attempt. Anyone that was involved in the negligent security breach that almost led to the assassination of President Trump must be held accountable for their failures. The mission of the Secret Service is to protect and on July 13 they failed.
