Dear Friends,

It was a great honor to have the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, address a joint session of Congress. With his speech and visit, we reaffirm as a nation the strength of the U.S.-Israel alliance.

On the day that the Prime Minister addressed the congress, I introduced major legislation to combat antisemitism and hate on college campuses. The Prohibiting Student Loan Forgiveness for Antisemites Act. This bill would prohibit students who are convicted of a hate crime under state or federal law at an institution of higher learning from being eligible for loan forgiveness. In the past year, there has been a growth in hate on college campuses. Violence directed towards Jewish students continues to exponentially increase. The violence the nation witnessed during the 2023-2024 school year on college campuses shocked the nation. Those responsible for committing hate crimes towards any group must be held accountable

We must not allow antisemites to benefit from their hate. With this bill, we ensure that those that are convicted of a state or federal hate crime will not receive loan forgiveness benefits. Hate has no place in our nation, therefore we must and will continue to stand with the U.S. and international Jewish community.

I’m proud to represent Miami and the Florida Keys, one of the most pro-Israel communities on the planet. We will always stand with our dear friend and ally, the democratic Jewish state of Israel, and the Jewish community.

Read the bill HERE.

Sincerely,

Your Congressman,
Carlos A. Gimenez

Congressman Carlos Gimenez Votes to Condemn Border Czar Kamala Harris

I voted to condemn "Border Czar" Kamala Harris. The House Resolution passed with bipartisan support, 220-196, with 6 Democrats voting in the affirmative.

Even House Democrats know Vice President Harris is a total disaster. The Biden-Harris Administration has been a total failure with its open border policies. Since "Border Czar" Harris took over the crisis, there have been nearly 7.9 million illegal encounters at our southern border.

Chairman Carlos Gimenez Presses U.S. Coast Guard

I chaired the House Homeland Security Committee to examine the U.S. Coast Guard’s role in securing the homeland. I questioned Admiral Linda L. Fagan, Commandant, U.S. Coast Guard.

We discussed how the U.S. Coast Guard cutter which is supposed to be in the water today but has yet to be finally designed. These years of setbacks result in a serious issue of national security and the committee demands real answers as to the reasons for these delays. We further examined the recruitment process and the bleeding of enlisted members of the U.S. Coast Guard. Currently, the U.S. Coast Guard is losing more service members than are coming in.

Congressman Carlos Gimenez Leads Investigation into Failed Assassination Attempt

I participated in the House Homeland Security Committee as we examined the failed assassination attempt of President Donald Trump on July 13, 2024, in Butler, Pennsylvania. I questioned the Commissioner of Pennsylvania State Police, Colonel Christopher L. Paris, and President of the National Fraternal Order of Police, Patrick Yoes.

The now former U.S. Secret Service Director was invited to take questions by the committee, but she did not appear and instead resigned as the director of the agency. While we welcome the Secret Service Director’s resignation, the House Homeland Security Committee will continue its work and thoroughly investigate the events leading up to the failed assassination attempt. Anyone that was involved in the negligent security breach that almost led to the assassination of President Trump must be held accountable for their failures. The mission of the Secret Service is to protect and on July 13 they failed.
