WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez (R-FL) took to the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to oppose H. Con. Res. 61 (introduced by Representative Gregory W. Meeks (D-NY-5) and H. Con. Res. 64 (introduced by Representative James P. McGovern (D-MA-2).

The two resolutions would restrict the President of the United States’ ability to confront narco-terrorist threats in the Western Hemisphere and limit the tools available to the President and U.S. Armed Forces to counter foreign terrorist organizations operating in our backyard.

“The Maduro regime is a foreign terrorist organization that uses Venezuela as a base to flood our hemisphere with deadly drugs, said Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez. "H. Con. Res. 61 and 64 would send exactly the wrong message, inviting danger by tying the hands of our President and pulling back our forces from confronting narco-terrorists operating in our own backyard. As someone who spent a lifetime in public safety and who fled communism, I know that weakness invites aggression. We must confront narco-terrorism head-on, stand with the Venezuelan people, and never surrender to the terrorist regimes and cartels killing our children and poisoning our communities.”
