Dear Friends,

The United States stands firmly with the Venezuelan people. Many have sought refuge and created communities in the US all while respecting our laws and contributing to our nation’s prosperity. Unfortunately, criminal groups like Tren de Aragua have exploited our generosity, bringing violence and lawlessness to our streets.

President Donald Trump has been a steadfast ally of the Venezuelan people—granting Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) in 2021, supporting the democratic opposition, and imposing tough sanctions on the Maduro regime. Most recently, his special envoy, Richard Grenell, traveled to Venezuela to confront dictator Nicolás Maduro and his regime. As a result, Mr. Grenell secured the release of six American hostages and forced the Maduro regime to accept the deportation of illegal migrants and Tren de Aragua members who have endangered our communities.

The fight for a free and democratic Venezuela is far from over. The U.S. must remain vigilant, holding the Maduro regime accountable and ensuring that criminal organizations find no safe haven in our nation. Through strong leadership and decisive action, we can protect our communities, support the Venezuelan people, and stand on the side of freedom.

Sincerely,

Your Congressman,
Carlos A. Gimenez

Congressman Carlos Gimenez Appointed to Board of Regents

I am deeply honored to have been appointed by my friend, Speaker Mike Johnson, to serve on the Smithsonian Board of Regents. As the only Cuban-born Member of Congress, I look forward to working with my fellow board members to guarantee that the Hispanic, Cuban American, and Cuban exile experiences are accurately portrayed and represented in the Smithsonian Institution’s collection. The Smithsonian Institution is a crown jewel of our nation and should be a bastion of patriotism and American pride for millions of people across our country and the world to enjoy.
