WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez (R-FL) denounced the Government of Mexico’s continued oil subsidies to the Communist Cuban regime.

This follows recent reports that in 2025 the Mexican government overtook the Venezuelan regime as the primary source of oil shipments to the Communist Cuban dictatorship.

“In the United States Congress, we are deeply disturbed by Mexico’s subsidies to the narcoterrorist dictatorship in Communist Cuba,” said Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez. “Instead of gifting free oil to a regime in decline those resources should be used to benefit the Mexican people. As the United States Government enters negotiations with Mexico over the USMCA Agreement, we are demanding that President Claudia Sheinbaum’s government immediately halt these free oil shipments to Communist Cuba. We want to be good allies with our friends in Mexico but if this disturbing trend continues my colleagues and I will have no hesitation in enforcing serious consequences against the Mexican government.”
