Dear Friends,

For decades, the Cuban dictatorship has engaged in one of the most egregious forms of modern-day slavery: the forced labor of Cuban doctors and healthcare professionals sent abroad for exploitative practices. These so-called “medical missions” are a deceptive practice that funnels billions of dollars to the Cuban regime at the expense of the medical workers.

I have sent a formal letter to Secretary Rubio urging the Trump Administration to implement additional sanctions and tariffs against countries that participate and aid in any way towards this inhumane practice.

Despite the image presented, these forced labor operations provide hard currency to the regime. The United States must lead by example. We must stand firm in defense for human rights and send a clear message that slavery, in any form, has no place in the modern world.

Sincerely,

Your Congressman,
Carlos A. Gimenez
