WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Carlos A. Giménez (FL-28) issued the following statement celebrating the ribbon cutting at Key West International Airport (EYW), marking a milestone in the modernization project with the grand opening of Concourse A.

Congressman Giménez secured $2 million in federal funding for the project through the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024. The funding supports the expansion and modernization of the pre-security public waiting area, passenger ticketing lobby, and outbound baggage security space, and increasing capacity and efficiency.

This project is part of $33 million in community funding initiatives secured by Congressman Gimenez in fiscal year 2024 for Florida’s 28th District.

“The ribbon cutting at Key West International Airport marks a significant milestone in its ongoing modernization efforts,” said Congressman Carlos A. Giménez. “I am proud to have secured $2 million in federal funding for this project because investing in and upgrading our critical infrastructure is essential. These improvements will increase passenger capacity, enhance the travel experience, and ensure the airport is well-equipped to meet the demands of a growing tourism industry. I look forward to seeing the continued success of Key West International.”
