WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez (FL-28) joined House Republican leadership for a press conference highlighting the dangers of socialism and reaffirming America's commitment to freedom.

An exile from communist Cuba, Congressman Gimenez shared his family's story of fleeing the Castro dictatorship and warned against embracing the same failed ideology that has oppressed and killed millions around the world. He emphasized that the fight against communism is not only a moral imperative but also a national security priority, citing the Cuban regime's deepening alliances with Communist China, Russia, and Iran. Congressman Gimenez reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to standing with the people of Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua as they continue their struggle for freedom and democracy.

"America gave my family something communist Cuba never could: freedom, opportunity, and hope," said Congressman Carlos Gimenez. "I know firsthand that communism and socialism do not work. They destroy freedom, silence opposition, and empower regimes at the expense of their people. We must never take our liberty for granted or allow these failed ideologies to gain ground in the United States."
