WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Carlos A. Giménez (FL-28) applauds the passage of H.R. 1505, the No Stolen Trademarks Honored in America Act of 2023, which passed the House of Representatives with his support. Introduced by Reps. Darrell Issa (CA-48) and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23), this bill prohibits U.S. courts from recognizing, enforcing, or validating trademarks that were confiscated by the Cuban government. 

“The criminal Castro regime has a long history of confiscating assets and profiting from intellectual property that was stolen from its citizens,” said Rep. Gimenez. “As the only Cuban-born Member of Congress, I am proud to work in a bipartisan manner to safeguard intellectual property rights and ensure no U.S. courts validate any trademark claims from assets stolen by the Castro regime.”

Congressman Carlos Giménez represents Miami-Dade County and the beautiful Florida Keys. He is the only Cuban-born Member of the 118th Congress, having fled his homeland shortly after the Communist takeover of the island. He serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the Homeland Security Committee, and the Select Committee on China.
