CONGRESSMAN CARLOS GIMENEZ INTRODUCES RESOLUTION TO REMOVE REP. RAMIREZ FROM THE HOMELAND SECURITY COMMITTEE August 8, 2025 WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez (FL-28) introduced a House Resolution to remove Representative Delia Ramirez (IL-03) from the House Committee on Homeland Security following her recent public remarks that call into question her loyalty to the United States. Congresswoman Sheryl Briggs (R-SC) joined as an original cosponsor of the resolution. “The Rules of the United States House of Representatives clearly state that all Members ‘shall behave at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House,’” said Congressman Carlos Gimenez. “Representative Ramirez has violated that rule - and her oath.“I was born Cuba and was exiled from my homeland shortly after the Communist takeover. Everything I am, I owe to this exceptional country of limitless opportunities that paved the way for a Cuban refugee like me to become a firefighter, fire chief, city manager, county commissioner, county mayor, and yes, even a Member of Congress. Only in America!” added Rep. Gimenez. “When a Member of Congress openly declares allegiance to a foreign nation over the United States, it is not only unacceptable — it is disqualifying for service on a committee tasked with securing our homeland.“Representative Ramirez’s conduct is unbecoming of any Member of Congress and must result in her immediate removal from the Committee on Homeland Security.” Read the full bill HERE.
